Licensing Information

Your house plan purchase includes permission to use the drawings for an authorized building project. Please review the licensing information below before purchasing, sharing, or constructing from a plan.

1. What Your Purchase Includes

When you purchase a house plan from DirectHomePlans.com, you receive the plan package identified on the product page and a limited license to use those drawings. Purchasing a plan does not transfer ownership of the design or its copyright.

The license described below applies unless a different license is expressly included with your order or provided in a separate written agreement.

2. Single-Construction License

Each standard plan purchase authorizes construction of one home or other structure shown in the purchased plan at one building site. It does not authorize repeated construction, use at multiple addresses, or construction of additional copies of the same design.

Builders and developers planning to construct the design more than once must obtain written authorization or purchase additional licenses before beginning additional projects.

3. Who May Use the Drawings

You may share necessary copies of the purchased plans with your builder, contractor, engineer, architect, building department, lender, and other professionals directly involved in your authorized project.

These copies may be used only for that project. The license may not be sold, assigned, or transferred to another person or project without written permission from the applicable rights holder.

4. Copyright & Prohibited Uses

Copyright and intellectual property rights in each plan remain with DirectHomePlans.com or the applicable designer or rights holder. Unless you receive written authorization, you may not resell, redistribute, publish, upload, or give away the drawings for use on other projects.

Redrawing, reversing, modifying, or converting a plan to another file format does not remove its copyright protection or create an additional construction license.

5. Plan Changes & Add-On Services

Optional services such as reversed plans, 2×6 wall conversions, material takeoff lists, and additional printed plan sets do not increase the number of homes or structures you are licensed to build.

Any changes made to the plans are intended for the authorized project only. Additional design work may require a separate fee or written agreement.

6. Local Codes, Permits & Professional Review

Building codes, zoning regulations, energy requirements, structural conditions, and permit rules vary by location. Plans may need revisions to meet requirements for your property and jurisdiction.

Before construction, the purchaser and project team are responsible for confirming site suitability, obtaining necessary approvals, and arranging any required review, engineering, or professional seals. Such services are not included unless expressly stated in the purchased package.

7. Additional Licenses

If you intend to build the same design more than once, please contact DirectHomePlans.com before proceeding. Additional construction rights, when available, must be approved in writing and may involve separate licensing fees.

An additional set of printed drawings or a second digital download is not an additional construction license.

8. Questions About Licensing
